Correspondence, literary drafts (mostly typescript), subject files, photographs, newscuttings and copies of issues of journals containing articles by Ruhen. The correspondence includes family and personal correspondence, in addition to extensive files of correspondence with publishers and agents in Australia and overseas. The literary drafts date from the 1930s and include drafts of novels, short stories, book reviews and non-fiction works. The photographs include family photographs, wartime photographs and photographs taken during trips connected with Ruhen's writing. Included amongst the publications is a set of the first two years' issues of "People" magazine with a typed index by Ruhen.
- Biography/History:

New Zealand born author. Served with the RNZAF during World War II. In 1947 Ruhen moved to Sydney and worked as a journalist for eight years before establishing himself as a freelance writer. He subsequently published over 30 books, based mainly on his travels in Australia and the Pacific.
