- The routes shown may be the route of Shirley's search party, resulting from Joseph Martin's murder at Lawson Creek, Aug.; or of W.H. Willshire's search party to find Shirley.
- Shirley, Arthur Phillips, George Phillips, James Hussey and John Russ died of thirst. [A.M.?] Giles survived and instigated Willshire's search.
