Folkloric recording. Emily Solberg sings folk songs and talks about her life in a rural community.
Solberg, born at Peak Hill (N.S.W.) recalls her family's background; her father's occupations- chaff cutter, driving steam engine to Baradine saw mill, sleeper cutter; her schooling in Carcoar (N.S.W.); family life in Baradine (N.S.W.); memories of the Depression years, such as camping out with her father to assist him with sleeper cutting; living conditions for families in the bush in the early part of 20th century; bush remedies; sleeper cutting camp 30 miles out in the Pilliga scrub; social activities, music and dancing of bush workers; tunes played, comparison to parties of today; games played in the bush (Pilliga); her father's violin and the songs he composed; family parties.
