Larry Sitsky was born in Tientsin, China in 1934, and came to Australia in 1951. He studied at the N.S.W. State Conservatorium of Music, and after graduating in 1954 continued his piano studies with Winifred Burston and later in the U.S.A. with Egon Petri. On his return to Australia, he became Chief Study piano teacher at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (1961-1965) and visiting lecturer in 20th century music at the University of Queensland. Since 1966 he has been Head of the Piano Faculty at the Canberra School of Music.
