Sheila Scott was an English pilot who broke over 100 long-distance flight and light-aircraft records between 1965 and 1972. Before entering aviation, she served in the Royal Navy as a nurse during the Second World War, and worked as an actress from 1945. Scott commenced pilot training in 1959, completing her first round-the-world flight in 1966. Scott was the first person to fly over the true North Pole in a small aircraft in 1971. She was appointed Officer of the British Empire (OBE) in 1968.
