"In the Kedron valley, near to the Garden of Gethsemane, stands the Church of the Assumption, erected upon the tomb that received the mortal remains of the Blessed Virgin and where, according to tradition, she lay after death until her Assumption. The fine porch, rebuilt about 1130 by the Crusaders, is the only part of the church above ground. It contains a chapel dedicated to Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, the parents of the Blessed Virgin. In addition to the altars of the Christians, there is also a Moslem mihrab in the sanctuary".
