In the centre of the interior is the sacred rock which history & legend proclaim to be the site where Abraham would have sacrificed his son Isaac. Here was the clebrated threshing floor of Ornan & later when Solomons temple arose, the rock became the base of the altar of holocausts. There are many other associations of interest connected with this spot".
