Rigney, a lecturer, discusses his Aboriginality as a member of the Ngarrindjeri community; influence of Ngarrindjeri father and European Australian mother; transient residential and school life; experiences of racism and his father's story as a member of the Stolen Generation. He also talks about his strong identification with the Raukkan mission area; mother's assimilation into the Indigenous community; academic career and his interest in anti-racist education strategies. Rigney then talks about his desire to write a history of the Ngarrindjeri community; his Master of Education thesis; experiences at Flinders University's Yunggorendi Centre for Higher Education and Research; Christianity and Aboriginal spirituality; 'culture-versus-heritage' debate and his thoughts on the future.
