- See cover. "The making of mats is the principal industry of the Swamp Arabs. These pictures taken at Chubaish show the Industry. The reeds are cut at some distance from the village. They are dried and then split by stamping with a heavy wooden stamper. They are then woven as the picture shows. The mats are used by the builders for roofing, floor, partitions & so on.".
