Presbyterian cergyman and politician. Born Greenock, Scotland. Lang arrived in New South Wales in 1823. Minister of Scots Church, 1826-1878. Held seats for Port Phillip (1843-1847) and Stanley (Moreton Bay) in the Legislative Council and the seat of West Sydney in the Legislative Assembly, 1859-1869. Active in promoting emigration to Australia and in educational matters.
