The interview was recorded for the release of Keith Saunders' first book. He discusses his early life and how from a young age he had to contend with the issue of colour and his Indigenous heritage; originally from Singleton, his family relocated to Sydney so that they could have better opportunities; leaving school at thirteen; learning arithmetic through his job as a paper boy; later working in a factory which helped improve his strength later down the track in the boxing ring; being good at football, discrimination at the time so he went into boxing; his focus during a fight; originally wanting a ghost writer to write his book but after three failed attempts his decision to write it himself, Black Books, Canberra publishing his book; the loss of friends; reads a passage from his book; discrimination against Indigenous people in the old days; his second book being nearly finished; finding fiction easier to write than autobiography.

Keith B. Saunders, was an Aboriginal boxer and author of two books. His boxing potential was spotted by Chippendale gymnasium owner, Billy McConnell, who guided his early career. He was a welterweight fighter and retired from boxing in 1966 but made two comebacks in 1968 and 1970 before retiring permanently.
