MS 7746 comprises a large album of early Australian and New Zealand documents. Included are monetary documents, ca. 1840-1897, such as promissory notes, bills of exchange and a proof of the first pound note from the Union Bank of Australia; military commissions; documents relating to land such as grants and a surveyor's report relating to the District of Lancefield in Victoria; theatre programs, song lyrics and poetry; appointments to various government positions; passenger tickets for a family travelling on the "Westminster" in 1857; legal documents such as wills, law lists, summonses, warrants and protection orders; handbills advertising a variety of events; playbills for theatrical productions including one dating from 1794 titled "Shipley's satirical auction"; a sketch of Kororareka, published in 1860; church documents such as appeals, appointments and addresses; mining documents such as surveys and leases; philatelic items such as first day covers, mainly relating to Antarctica and dating from the 1950s, postage stamps, and postcards from the late 1800s; and, a eulogy to Captain James Cook, May 1794 (1 fol. volume).
