- Summary:
-
Edgar Chircop, a Maltese migrant of 1946, talks about his father who served in the Australian Navy during WWII; his apprenticeship and first jobs and then coming to Australia in 1946 with his brother aboard "Rangitiki". They belonged to the first group of post-war Maltese migrants to come to Australia and Chircop describes life on board ship, in particular, the recreational activities provided. He then talks about settling in Sydney; establishing the Girraween Soccer Club; reasons behind choosing Seven Hills for their first home and the migration of other family members to Australia. Chircop then talks about the advantages of living in Australia especially for his children and that what he misses most is the Maltese culture and relaxed way of life.
