Helen Heney is a daughter of T. W. Heney (1862-1928) a prominent Sydney journalist. He was editor of the Sydney Morning Herald 1904-1918. Her mother was a daughter of Henry Gullett MLC (1837-1914) also associated with the SMH as Associate Editor 1890-1899. Helen Heney is the author of the novels. The Chinese Camelia (1950) The Proud Lady (1951) Dark Moon (1953) and In a dark glass: The story of Paul Edward Strzelecki (1961).
