- Summary:
-
Photocopy of a letter, dated 15 April 1981, from Patrick White to Robert Bartholomew about Joern Utzon. Bartholomew, an architectural student at the University of New South Wales, was writing a thesis about Utzon. White describes the two occasions he met Utzon: one on the Royal Yacht; and the other when Utzon showed White and a friend over the Opera House while it was still being built. White comments on the language barrier that prevented them from getting to to know each other better. White also mentions a booklet Utzon sent him, probably after leaving Australia, in which he discusses his work and aspirations.
