Daybook kept by Thomas Mellersh at 'Woodlands', York, 12 Mar. 1836 to 27 Jan. 1838, recording day to day events on the property, such as sales of stock, visitors, harvesting and gardening. The journal is continued on board the brigantine Abercromby on a voyage from Swan River to Mauritius, 12 Feb. to May 1838, and from Mauritius to England 10 May to 11 July 1838 on the barque Majestic. It describes weather conditions and Mellersh's impressions of passengers and crew.

Mellersh arrived in Western Australia in 1834 and purchased property near York, where he lived for the following four years. While in Western Australia he acted as property agent for Lady Stirling, the wife of the Governor.
