- Manuscript sketch map shows five plots naming owners/occupiers of two sets of "Quarters", one house and two gardens. Names include Col. Patterson, Captain Mills and Lewis. The wording "Road from the Barracks to the Rocks" appears below the plots. Cockle Bay is shown at the top of the sketch and Sydney Cove at the bottom. A windmill is shown and the position of a church is indicated.
- Hand-drawn in pen on a thin and brittle sheet of brown paper. One or two small sections are missing, but most writing and the sketch are intact.
- Library's copy originally stuck down onto a larger sheet of coarse canvas. The Library's Preservation Section removed the map from the canvas.
