Ted Egan, born in Melbourne, is a country and folk musician, entertainer and author. His early career was with the Department of Aboriginal Affairs in the Northern Territory. He later taught in country schools. He has been writing and recording songs since 1969, and has produced 26 albums. He has also written several books and was a presenter of the TV series, This land Australia and The great outdoors. He was awarded the Order of Australia (AM) in 1991 and is a life member of the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame.
