Goldsmith speaks about becoming a Christian at the age of 14 and about her decision to work with the Australian Inland Mission. She was employed as an assistant housemother at the United Aborigines Mission, Oodnadatta, S. Aust. under Sister Ruth Bullpit from 1955 until 1958. She speaks about living conditions at the Mission, some of the children in her care, and the attitude of local people to the children and staff from the Mission. Following her marriage in 1958, Goldsmith fostered four siblings whom she had previously cared for at the Mission. She outlines her experiences as a foster parent and expresses her opinion of the South Australian Department of Aboriginal Affairs.
