French manuscript containing extracts of Francois Peron's voyage to Australia. Includes observations of the inhabitants, fauna and flora. Mention is made of Port Jackson and Botany Bay. The manuscript is dated 1816 Apr. 24, some 6 years after Peron's death.
- Biography/History:

Francois Peron, 1775-1810, naturalist, joined an expedition to the South Seas from October 1800 to 1804 on the ship Le Geographe, commanded by Nicolas Baudin. Peron was charged with compiling the narrative part of the voyage including descriptions of natural history specimens. The work describing the voyage appeared between 1807 and 1816 under the title Voyage de decouvertes aux terres australes although Peron died before the second volume was completed.
