- Summary:
-
The Sunday Panel. 1. Joh Bjelke-Petersen, Premier of Queensland is determined to keep Queensland indigenous land rights out of the hands of Canberra and would no doubt use any scare tactic available to do so. 2. In an echo of Empire past, the Royal Navy is ordered to proceed to the Falkland Islands to expel the Argentinians who had not long previously invaded Britain's remote colonial possession 3. Treasury Secretary John Stone, in a public brawl with Labor stalwart Senator Peter Walsh, refers to himself in passing as a "mere public official', raising a chuckle among those who would regard Stone as anything but 'mere'. 3. The British government causes headaches for our intelligence agencies when it decides to lift its restriction on publishing the whereabouts in Australia of cold-war Soviet defector Vladimir Petrov.--Information provided by Geoff Pryor.
