- Biography/History:
-
Joseph Murphy, who spent most of his life in the liquor trade, undertook a journey from Sydney to Darwin in search of mica as a representative of the Deaton family, the financiers of the venture. Although they failed to discover any payable mica the trip was significant as one of the first overland journeys from Sydney to the Northern Territory by motor truck.
