Leslie George "Les" Vante Cole (5 March 1892 - 20 January 1978) was an Australian illusionist, known professionally by the stage name "Levant", "The Great Levante" or "Magician Cole". He was regarded as one of the World's greatest magicians, and is also credited with creating the Impaling illusion. [information from Australian Dictionary of Biography and Wikipedia]. Levante's first world tour commenced in 1927 and lasted 13 years; his second must have been in the 1940s or early 1950s; and his third apparently started in 1954.
