O'Brien talks about her involvement in Women's Liberation in Canberra from 1972; Feminism and Socialism Conference in Melbourne, 1974; establishment of the Australian Union of Students (AUS) Women's Dept; role of Cheryl Buchanan in bringing indigenous awareness to the women's group; involvement of women in AUS Council and political discussions and the establishment of the AUS-funded Black Resource Centre. She then discusses the following strategies and principles:- collective operation is crucial, everything matters and everyone is important, feminists need to to be involved in leadership structures and the feminist agenda needs to be part of the agenda of all social movements. O'Brien then talks about the link between anti-racism struggles and the AUS Women's Dept. She then discusses the place of feminism in community radio and the genesis of ANU Women's Studies Dept. from the radical student education movement.
