- Notes:
-
- Although it copies the advertisement printed by William McAlpine on the last page of his edition, stating that he purchased the copy from Ames, this is undoubtedly the pirated issue advertised in the Boston evening post for Dec. 8, 1766, and in the Massachusetts gazette and Boston news-letter for Dec. 11 as "to be sold by R. & S. Draper, T. & J. Fleet, Edes & Gill, and Kneeland & Adams, printers." It is typographically distinct from McAlpine's edition. The same "printers and booksellers" imprint appears on the edition of Benjamin West's almanac advertised in the Massachusetts gazette as "in the press" on Oct. 9, and for sale on Nov. 6, by R. & S. Draper, T. & J. Fleet, Edes & Gill, and Green & Russell. (This was evidently a legitimate edition.) The only known Boston editions of Ames (other than McAlpine's) and of West for 1767 have the "printers and booksellers" imprint.
