- The folded leaf ("Return of the recruiting party at [blank] ...") is dated 1798. In the Boston Athenaeum copy, the date has been changed in ms. to 1799.
- In the present edition, the words "recruiting service" on the title page are printed in italic type. Except for the date on the folded leaf, identical with Evans 36584.
- The Boston Athenaeum copy is signed: James McHenry secy. of war.
