Discusses the Wright family from Wongwibinda of Dyamberin, how he changed Miss Wright's car tyre, having already refused a swaggie, how he tried to force with Dottie Ellis whom he fancied as a young man -- 2. May recalls stories about various cunning men, and also the day she first saw Jim -- 3. Discusses his abortive affair with the Cosgrove girl, how he lived for a period with the Backwater school teacher, Joyce Cosgrove features prominently in his early diary, recalls another old girlfriend Mrs Redden, his comments on the music played by Mark and Cathy Rummery -- 4.
