- Biography/History:
-
Albert Lance (12 July 1925 - 15 May 2013) was an Australian tenor, who also held French citizenship. He was Australia's principal tenor during the 1950s and later enjoyed a highly successful career in France.
- Notes:
- "Born Lance Ingram in Medindie, South Australia in 1925, he changed his surname because 'Ingram' in French suggested 'Lightweight'. In 1954 he was offered a two-year scholarship to study in Paris. Next, he was first at the Paris Opera Comique, then at the Paris Opera. There, he made five major Parisian debuts with great success, becoming on of Europe's outstanding tenors." - Karl Levett, 2015.
