The map features the time-dated seatrack of James Cook's third Pacific exploration (this was missing in the early version published in July 1780) and includes many new Pacific islands previously uncharted, particularly the discovery of the I. Sandwich [i.e. Hawaiian Islands] where Cook was killed. The seatrack includes the last leg of the expedition lead by Cook's lieutenants up the northeast coast of Asia to explore the icy Bering Strait, not yet named.
