- 1 ms. map on 4 sheets ; sheet 80.8 x 76 cm. or smaller.
- Notes:
-
- Bottom right sheet of Walter Burley Griffin's earlier 1917 printing of his 1916 plan showing proposed roads, railways, buildings and water features. The main features included on this sheet are a proposed railway line from Queanbeyan running west through the suburbs of Kingston and then Barton then diverging north across the proposed lake into the suburb of Russell as well as southwards through Forest, Manuka and Griffith. Main train stations in this area are identified and named along with the names of major avenues. This quarter of this map gives Griffin's approval as shown by his initials & dated 7/2/1917 and agrees very closely in content with the later printing of the same title (printed and approved 10/2/1917), possibly indicating this may have been part of a draft version officially printed 3 days later. No significant annotations or amendments, apart from the initials & date, appear on this portion of the draft. Relief is shown by contours and spot heights.
- "WBG, 7/2/1917"--Initials & date of approval at bottom right corner of sheet.
- Base map appears to be an undated b&w printing of Griffin's Canberra plan of city and environs, 103b.
- Later Feb. 10, 1917 printing issued as: Canberra plan of city and environs, 103b / Walter Burley Griffin, Federal Capital Director of Design & Construction. Melbourne : Photo-lithod at the Melbourne and Metropolitan Board of Works under the direction of A.E. Hodge, 1917.
