"When wind and swell made it impossible for Commander Dixon to keep the LST against the beach the unloading party used small beaching craft and pontoons for landing lighter goods. The wind and swell made the job of floating and recovering small boats and pontoons extremely hazardous. Several sailors were injured in the landing operations."--Label on verso.
