Donald Thomson, 1901-1970, research fellow, University of Melbourne, 1932-1937 and 1945-1953, associate professor then professor of anthropology, 1953-1968. Led a number of expeditions to Cape York, Arnhem Land and the Great Sandy and Gibson deserts.
