MS Acc07.176 consignment comprises correspondence; material relating to Hueneke's publications, including manuscripts, drafts, notes, reference material, offprints, pamphlets, maps, letters, reviews; personal documents; family history papers including photographs and family letters in German; three scrapbooks of press clippings; trip notes from archaeological dig, bushwalks and ski tours; drawings, speeches and talks given in the 1970s and 1980s.
MS Acc15.121 consignment comprises thought diaries and field notebooks from 1991-2010, unpublished poetry and articles, a scrapbook of news clippings pertaining to the 2003 Canberra region bush-fires, manuscripts of several of Hueneke's published books, and correspondence.
MS Acc23.078 consignment comprises an addition of diaries (1977-1998), manuscripts of published and unpublished books, correspondence, documents and drawings.
- Biography/History:

Writer, photographer, historian, publisher, skier and walker. Klaus Hueneke was born in Roflshagen, Germany, in 1944 and emigrated to Australia with his family in 1955. The family lived in country New South Wales and Hueneke was educated at Macquarie University and the Australian National University. He settled in Canberra in 1973. Hueneke has travelled extensively in the Australian Alps, photographing the landscape, conducting oral histories, and producing books about the area, its history and inhabitants. Hueneke's books include Beyond the Cotter: day adventures by car from Canberra to the Brindabella Mountains and beyond (with Allan J. Mortlock, 1979), Huts of the high country (1982), Kosciusko: where the ice-trees burn (1990), People of the Australian high country (with Graham Scully et al., 1994), and, Mountain landscapes and historic huts: Namadgi, Kosciuszko, Victorian Alps, Tasmania (2006). He has established his own press to publish his and others' works on the Australian Alps.
