Keith Ogilvie talks about his family background; cane farming, cane cutters; schooling; his musical influences; country dances; dance bands; his work, his music background; folk music; his progression to guitar playing; bushband and members; his present band, involvement and songwriting. Ken Sanders speaks about his family background; emigrating to Australia with his wife; recruitment methods for migrants to Australia; his music background; meeting Jan and their marriage; moving to Mackay, Qld. (1965); working as a carpenter; different attitudes to work in England; his inspiration to be involved in folk music and subsequent involvement in Mackay (1969); the Mackay Folk Club, his establishment function, visiting artists, audiences, acoustic music.
Keith Ogilvie and Ken Sanders discuss the workings of the club; memories of early members and influences; the Sanders trip overseas for 2 years; the disbandment of the Folk Club and its re-established in the 90's; the folk movement, bands 'Mulga Bill's Bicycle Band'; longevity of performers; working together, recollections, theatre show; the origin of the 'Wintermoon' Festival and its development into a major festival; locals no longer being involved, establishment of site for festival, story of troubles and solutions; Rock and Roll connections; Ken now teaching guitar; their love of music. Jan Sanders speaks of her family background in the U.K.; meeting her future husband, Ken; her ballet involvement; her involvement with the Folk Club; acceptance by locals; contrast with her homeland, cultural differences; missing family; her life in England; the difference in food in Australia, 'food shock'.
