This report examines the responses of public officers to certain lobbying activities of Mr Burke and Mr Grill on behalf of Fortescue Metals Group Lt (FMG). For several years and throughout 2006, FMG was establishing port facilities at Port Hedland and a rail network in the Pilbara. Mr Burke and Mr Grill appear to have been employed for their ability to assist the company in its dealings with the state government of Western Australia.
