- Summary:
-
The primary focus of this investigation was to review the performance of the Federal Seasafety Centre in the discharge of its functions in the search and rescue incident involving the Australian yacht Rockin Robin reported in distress on 8 June 1990. The crew of Rockin Robin had abandoned into 2 ASRK rafts dropped near the yacht but they were never found and the search was finally abondoned. The investigation revealed deficiencies in the search and rescue effort which need to be addressed for the effectiveness of future incidents, but which, on the balance of probabilities, did not affect the outcome in this incident.
