It was captained by Captain William Holmes and was bound from London to Melbourne, carrying approxiamately 300 government immigrants. The Sacramento had nearly completed a safe voyage when it was wrecked on Point Lonsdale at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay, without any loss of life.
