Gerald Carroll, a Melbourne taxi driver before his enlistment in the Australian Imperial Force, was imprisoned in Poland and in Stalag Luft III in Germany and the story of his war years and entrepreneurship in the prison camp, taken from his diary, is told in Great Australian book of nostalgia.
