- A production of The Nottingham Playhouse Company with the first performance at Nottingham Playhouse on 6 June, 1974. Written by Ken Campbell, Dave Hill & Andy Andrews. Based on the story of William Thompson better known as "Bendigo". Born William Abednego Thompson (18 October 1811 - 23 August 1880) who was an English bare-knuckle boxer. He was said to be devoid of fear and was also very agile, earning the name "Bendy" because of his constant bobbing and weaving around the ring; his nickname evolved and "Bendy" Abednego became "Bendigo".
