Designed to assist pupil transportation supervisors, safety instructors, school bus drivers, curriculum writers, teachers, and others who have some type of responsibility for school bus safety, this suggestion-type booklet provides practical tips for educating student school bus riders. The items covered are (1) going to the bus stop; (2) at the bus stop or waiting for the school bus; (3) boarding the school bus; (4) on the bus or riding to school; (5) leaving the school bus; (6) loading at the school for the take-home trip; (7) field trips and excursions; and (8) evacuation procedures. Additional information includes six pages of instructional materials and their sources; and an annotated bibliography on the subjects of pupil behavior, child control, and student conduct. The booklet also carries suggestions for the implementation of U.S. Department of Transportation Highway Safety Program Standard No. 17, Pupil Transportation Safety. (Page 21 may reproduce poorly.)
