- Summary:
-
In the fall of 1973, questionnaires concerning their professional relationships and goals were sent to 456 school media specialists in the southeastern United States. Responses were received from 66% of those surveyed. The major conclusions derived from the survey were the following: (1) there is a trend toward central locations for school media centers, (2) media specialists are frequently asked to perform extraneous administrative duties, (3) the media specialist needs to solicit teacher patronage and suggestions, (4) specific university training for media work is needed, and (5) the function and use of the media center has improved.
