MS Acc10.207 comprises papers collected by Gareth Thomas relating to the Mawson family. The majority of the papers in this collection comprise personal correspondence of Paquita Mawson (née Delprat), principally with her daughter Patricia, but also with her daughter Jessica, and with other members of her extended family. There is a small group of letters of Douglas Mawson to Patricia, 1925-1931. Other papers include a small number of undated black and white photographs depicting Antarctic exploration; a typescript draft of Paquita Mawson's biography of her father, Guillaume Daniel Delprat, published in 1958; a Deed of Agreement between the Broken Hill Proprietary Company and G.D. Delprat (1898); and architectural plans of a house for G.D. Delprat at Brighton, South Australia (1909) (6 boxes, 1 map folio).
The Acc10.216 instalment comprises a telegram from Douglas Mawson to his fiancee, Paquita Delprat, advising her that he was alive after having been missing in the Antarctic for some months (1 folder).

Sir Douglas Mawson was leader of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition from 1911-1914 and the British, Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition from 1929-1931. He was Lecturer in Geology, University of Adelaide from 1905-1920 and Professor of Geology and Mineralogy from 1921-1952. In 1914, Mawson married Francisca Adriana (Paquita) Delprat, daughter of Henrietta and Guillaume Delprat, who was general manager of B.H.P. Steel from 1899–1921. They settled in Adelaide where they had two daughters: Patricia Marietje (b. 1915) who married Ifor Thomas in 1947, and Jessica Quita (b. 1917), who married Peter McEwin in 1944. Lady Paquita Mawson published biographies of her father, A vision of steel: the life of G.D. Delprat, C.B.E., General Manager of B.H.P. 1898-1921 (Cheshire, 1958), and of her husband, Mawson of the Antarctic: the life of Sir Douglas Mawson F.R.S., O.B.E. (Longmans, 1964).
