- Summary:
-
An administrative review and evaluation of the student unrest of 1969 on the SUNY campus is reported. Students, faculty, and staff members were contacted for the study, which was undertaken in the summer of 1970. One conclusion is that the nature of campus unrest depends on the interaction between two major factors, each with a host of subcomponents: (1) the strength of the new youth counterculture on campus, with subcultures, and (2) the ability of the institution to adapt to this counterculture. Social institutions such as universities must adapt to the interaction between the old and new cultures. (Author/MSE)
