Folkloric recording. Brian Dunnett talks about the Chullora Workshops; the folk revival; his union involvement and 'blacklisting', subsequent employment (1968); his anti-Vietnam War involvement; the nature of work at Chullora and WWII wartime work; the nature of 'shop committees'; problems in the Labor Movement, the basis of Labor Party; the establishment of Labor History Museum; the Socialist Movement; the influence of the Communist Party, 1950's and 1960's; the conflicts between a multitude of different Unions; Combined Union Organisation; the power of Union Officials and alienation of rank and file members; the involvement of the Unions in social matters, the Enviromental Movement, Green Bans; he traces the history of railway work, its changing nature and resulting influences; his involvement in community arts and the past influence of Railway Institutes; the importance of libraries and education of workers.
Dunnett discusses his involvement in the 'Arts in Working Life' movement; the history of concerts in railway workshops, back to WWII; the use of 'Q Theatre' shows, the 'Sidetrack Theatre', setting up shows and theatre at Chullora Workshops; how the theatre company organised the plays; how it led to classes in theatre disciplines for the worker; Harry Robertson; the production of C.D.s and literature; the Australia Council; the proposed Labor Museum; railway folklore; the Bicentenary; David Hill; setting up the Travelling Railway History Exhibition, with help given by Transport Unions (now stored at Werris Creek Museum); the condition and development of the exhibition; his specific interest in railway history and folklore; Everleigh Workshops; a Railways Film Festival; his concern for the future of rail travel; the film, 'The Railway Man'; the 'Carriage Works Theatre'; his work to establish 'The Music Train' in conjunction with 'The Illawarra Folk Festival', the functions of the train, the division of carriages, artists involved, schools involvement.
