Margaret Whiting Spilhaus (1889?-1981) was a South African who wrote novels, children's verse, and works on South African history and an autobiography. Besides this map of Australia, she also drew similar pictorial maps of Africa, and North and South America.

- Includes notes and color illustrations depicting the discovery, exploration and history of the Australian continent from Dirk Hartog's landing in 1616 to the opening of Parliament House in Canberra in May 1927.
