Synopsis of Content: A Glimpse of Australia is written for the purpose of educating a Chinese audience about Australia in general. It is thus another 'survey' treatment of Australia. Prefaced by the then Prime Minister Bob Hawke, as well as a member of the Chinese government, the book is the result of a 1985 visit of two Chinese journalists to Australia at the invitation of the Australia-China Council and has an 'official' air to it. Like other texts in its genre, it covers a wide range of topics.
