Two separate pieces: A souvenir invitation for the Royal Ball at the Adelaide Town Hall on 14th July and the supper menu for the buffet provided later in the banqueting room. Two copper plate engravings by Victor Cobb are tipped onto heavy Whatman watermarked paper, with the gold embossed coat of arms of the City of Adelaide at head. Artwork of "Come and be merry, Adelaide 1920" depicts a young woman standing under a tree and blowing a trumpet. Her other hand clasps the insignia of the Prince of Wales's Light Horse lettered with their motto Ich Dien (I Serve). Two birds, probably kookaburras, are perched at the top of the tree; a banner displaying the piping shrike (or white-backed magpie) state emblem hangs from a branch in the centre; and a cluster of musical instuments appears on the right. Artwork of "Supper menu" depicts a ceremonial brazier, a turkey, fruit platter, wine bottle and shallow champagne glass. In the background part of a ship (probably the royal yacht H.M.S. Renown) can be seen through a circular porthole window, with the stars of the Southern Cross in the sky. A note is hinged to the invitation regarding the need to reply before 7 June for the issue of entrée cards. The supper menu has a folding standing support hinged to the back.
