- Summary:
-
An apparently previously unrecorded later version of Ferguson 2376 [1837], this update retains the same map, but has different text. "The list of directors has been reset, with obvious differences. Wheeler's contribution has been brought up to date (for example, he now quotes shipping figures of 26 to December 1837, as against 15 to January 1837 earlier). However, the main difference is in the encomia and testimonials. The 1837 version has quotes from William Light, John Morphett and others, dated 23 August to 28 September 1836. None of these appear in this revised version; here they range in date from 'Mr Brown's Letter' of December 1836 to a quote from the South Australian Gazette of 24 February 1838."-Michael Treloar Antiquarian Booksellers book auction list, 12 May 2013.
