Dr Minnett, radiophysicist, speaks of his background and childhood, the nature of God, Sydney High School, undergraduate studies in engineering and science at the University of Sydney, Radio Research Board, CSIRO Radiophysics Laboratory and its work on radars, Dr Joseph Pawsey, microwave astronomy, radio navigation, speed measuring radars, designing the Parkes Radio Telescope and its achievements, work on aerials, invention of the hybrid mode aerial feed, publications, design and construction of the Anglo-Australian Telescope, Interscan system, the Australian Telecommunications Electronics Research Board, membership of industry groups, various tributes for his work, crisis in science funding and the neglect of pure science, SETI Institute research at Parkes, the foreign debt problem, environmental problems, problem maintaining the stability of our multicultural society, ALP and Coalition support for science, forestry crisis, uranium mining and the generally troubled energy generation business, alliance with the United States, current political system and the possibility of a Republic, move towards Asia, the role of economic growth, women in science, abortion, euthanasia, our education system and the quality of students produced.
