MS Acc13.057 (1 box) comprises papers accumulated during Argall's appointment as Ambassador to China. Includes four visitors books, guest lists for official functions; several papers written by Argall, containing additional details of his career which are intended to supplement his oral history interview for the National Library; and a copy of a sub-thesis, written in 1988 by Argall as part of a Masters Degree, entitled 'Australia's China policy: a study of policy decisions in 1980 against a conceptual framework for the analysis of the foreign policy process'. Two notebooks, one annotated 'Japan & Korea' and the other 'Record of discussion Peking 8-10/2/84 are closed (1 box).

After completing a degree with honours in anthropology in the early 1960s, Dennis Argall was appointed to a position with the Department of External Affairs. He went on to hold several positions in the diplomatic sphere, including Ambassador to China from 1984-1985.
